Difference between the Grade System and the Year System
At Yasmina American School, we follow the grade system which starts in pre-kindergarten and continues to Grade 12. If you are moving from a British curriculum school, this would correspond to the Year system which starts in Foundation Stage 1 and continues through Year 13.
Year to Grade placement
If your child is moving from a year system to a grade system and he/she is finishing Year 4 in 2025/26, the child will join grade 4 the following year.
Year to Grade vs Grade to Grade placement
Year To Grade: When your child is transferring from a year curriculum to a grade curriculum.
Grade to Grade: When your child is transferring from a grade curriculum to a grade curriculum.
Equivalency
As per ADEK, all students must complete Year 13 for “Al-Thanawiya” (equivalent to Grade 12).
